As a Graduate Maths Learning Mentor, you will join a thriving secondary school in Leeds, working alongside experienced maths teachers to support students across a range of abilities. The Role
As a Graduate Maths Learning Mentor, you will support pupils across Key Stage 3, GCSE, and potentially A-Level Maths, helping them to improve attainment, build confidence, and develop a stronger understanding of mathematical concepts.
From leading intervention sessions to providing one-to-one support, you will play an important role within the Maths department and become a valued member of the school community from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted academic support across KS3, GCSE, and A-Level Maths
- Lead small-group and one-to-one intervention sessions
- Support students with numeracy, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning skills
- Help pupils prepare effectively for assessments, GCSEs, and A-Level examinations
- Reinforce key mathematical topics, including algebra, geometry, statistics, and number
- Collaborate closely with qualified Maths teachers to raise student attainment and confidence
- Support classroom learning and help maintain high levels of engagement
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- A minimum 2:1 degree in Maths, Engineering, Economics, Physics, or a closely related subject
- Strong mathematical knowledge and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- A genuine passion for education and supporting young people
- An ambition to pursue a career in teaching or education
Desirable
- Previous tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or classroom-based experience
- Knowledge of the GCSE Maths curriculum
- Experience working with young people in an educational setting
