Graduate History Trainee Teacher (Salaried Route – QTS Pathway)

KPI Education is working in partnership with a high-performing secondary school in Cambridge to recruit an ambitious History graduate for their salaried teacher training programme. This is an outstanding opportunity to train as a teacher while earning a salary, gaining hands-on classroom experience in a supportive and academically successful school.
The Role
You will join a thriving Humanities department and begin developing your classroom practice from day one. With structured mentoring and expert guidance, you will build the skills, confidence, and experience needed to become an outstanding History teacher.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting and delivering History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential opportunities to teach Key Stage 5.
- Inspiring students through engaging lessons that bring historical events, themes, and perspectives to life.
- Adapting teaching strategies to support both high-achieving learners and those requiring additional guidance.
- Planning lessons, assessing student progress, and developing effective classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Observing experienced teachers and implementing best practice within your own teaching.
- Participating in weekly professional development sessions focused on pedagogy, curriculum, and classroom practice.
- Gradually taking on increased teaching responsibility throughout the training year.

Candidate Profile
- 2:1 degree or above in History or a closely related subject.
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above).
- Excellent subject knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for History.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate young people.
- Resilient, proactive, and professional approach to learning and teaching.
- Commitment to building a long-term career within education.
- Right to work in the UK.
Previous experience working with young people is advantageous but not essential.
