The Role – Graduate English Tutor

As a Graduate English Tutor, you will work closely with experienced English teachers and play a key role in raising attainment and confidence. Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Supporting students with reading comprehension, analytical writing, and exam technique.
• Assisting in English lessons to ensure pupils remain engaged and supported.
• Leading structured intervention sessions focused on GCSE preparation.
• Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to feedback and assessment.
• Helping to maintain a focused, positive, and academically ambitious learning environment.

This is a hands-on role that provides genuine insight into teaching and daily life within a secondary school English department.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a graduate who demonstrates academic excellence and professional ambition:

• A 2:1 or above in English, English Literature, or a closely related subject.
• A strong interest in education, with the intention of pursuing teacher training in the future.
• Excellent subject knowledge and the ability to explain ideas clearly and confidently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A professional, proactive, and committed approach.
• Previous experience working with young people is beneficial, but not essential.
