What you will do
- Engage directly with children, young people, and families in their homes and community, ensuring safety and positive outcomes in line with care plans.
- Assist with ongoing assessments, care planning, and reviews to ensure a child-centred focus, empowering children and families.
- Facilitate and supervise contact between children and birth family members, and provide transport support as needed.
- Identify and assess levels of risk, delivering protective and supportive services for children at risk or in care.
- Communicate confidently in various situations, ensuring clarity and understanding.
- Conduct home visits and welfare checks to safeguard children and report any safeguarding issues.
- Provide crisis intervention and emergency cover, including immediate tasks within the home to maintain child safety.
- Support social workers in Child Protection Enquiries, including Section 47 enquiries.
- Refer families to additional support services such as financial aid, housing, and welfare rights.
- Contribute to family court-related work and support children and young people in making informed decisions.
- Promote wellbeing and resilience, assisting children in developing their identity and self-esteem and settling into new homes.
- Work inclusively and collaboratively with colleagues, council members, and community groups.
- Maintain high-quality records in the council's children's database.
- Support qualified social workers with practical tasks and administrative duties.
- Engage in regular performance reviews and developmental opportunities.
