Job Purpose:
To provide effective caretaking and manual labour services across Bristol City Council buildings and sites, ensuring they are safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained for staff, service users, and members of the public.

What you will do:
- Carry out general caretaking duties, including opening and closing buildings and ensuring site security
- Perform manual labour tasks such as lifting, moving furniture, setting up rooms, and clearing areas
- Maintain cleanliness of external and internal areas, including litter picking, sweeping, and basic cleaning
- Carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks such as basic plumbing, painting, and replacing fixtures
- Monitor the condition of buildings and grounds, reporting defects or health and safety concerns
- Assist with waste management, including moving bins and ensuring correct disposal
- Support in setting up and dismantling equipment for meetings, events, or activities
- Use tools and equipment safely and in line with council procedures
- Follow all health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and safe working practices
- Provide a helpful and professional service to staff, contractors, and members of the public

Person Specification:
Essential:
- Ability to carry out manual labour tasks, including lifting and physical work
- Basic knowledge of health and safety requirements in the workplace
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Reliable, flexible, and willing to work across different sites
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures

Desirable:
- Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or manual labour role
- Basic DIY or maintenance skills
- Awareness of safeguarding and public-sector working environments

Additional Information:
- The role may involve early mornings, evenings, or occasional weekend work
- A DBS check may be required depending on the site
- Training will be provided where necessary
