Role Overview
An exciting full‑time locum opportunity is available for a Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join the Paediatric Team in Wandsworth. This ongoing role offers a competitive hourly rate of £31 and provides the chance to play a pivotal role in supporting children with special educational needs across key developmental and educational stages.
As a senior clinician, you will deliver specialist assessments, contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and provide expert input to complex cases, including tribunal and mediation processes. You will work autonomously while collaborating closely with Local Authority professionals, schools, families, and multidisciplinary partners to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities / What You Will Do
- Provide specialist assessments and recommendations for children undergoing EHCP processes.
- Work closely with Local Authority case coordinators to ensure comprehensive support planning.
- Manage a complex caseload of children with special educational needs, offering expert OT input.
- Support and advise parents, carers, and education professionals on intervention strategies.
- Represent the Occupational Therapy service in tribunal cases, advocating for children’s needs.
- Work collaboratively with the Local Authority Tribunals Manager during mediation processes.
- Provide clinical supervision, mentoring, and professional support to junior team members.
- Maintain accurate, high‑quality documentation in line with professional and statutory standards.
Requirements / Candidate Criteria
Essential
- HCPC‑registered Occupational Therapist.
- Significant experience working in paediatric or SEN occupational therapy.
- Strong knowledge of EHCP processes and statutory frameworks.
- Confident managing complex cases independently, including tribunal work.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel across sites.
Desirable
- Band 7 experience or equivalent senior clinical responsibilities.
- Experience working within a Local Authority paediatric service.
- Previous involvement in mediation or SEN tribunal proceedings.
