What you will do:

• Assess and manage adults with swallowing difficulties and dysphagia.
• Assess and manage communication disorders in acute inpatients.
• Provide Speech and Language Therapy cover across Critical Care and Medical Wards.
• Develop and implement treatment and management plans.
• Support safe eating, drinking and swallowing pathways.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide advice and education to ward staff, patients, and carers.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and reports.
• Participate in discharge planning and continuity of care.
• Contribute to patient-centred rehabilitation and recovery.

Requirements:

• Degree or Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy.
• HCPC registration.
• Band 6 Speech and Language Therapy experience.
• Acute adult inpatient experience.
• Dysphagia competency.
• Experience managing communication disorders.
• Experience working within Critical Care settings.
• Experience working on Medical Wards.
• Ability to manage an autonomous caseload.
• Strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.

Desirable Requirements:

• Videofluoroscopy (VF) competency.
• FEES competency.
• NHS acute Speech and Language Therapy experience.
• Experience managing complex dysphagia caseloads.
