What you will do:

• Assist Consultant Pathologists during adult and paediatric post-mortem examinations, ensuring procedures are conducted safely and efficiently.
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the mortuary, including body reception, identification, storage, release, and associated documentation.
• Collect, label, and process tissue, fluid, and toxicology samples in accordance with clinical, legal, and forensic requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Human Tissue Authority standards, infection prevention policies, health and safety legislation, and mortuary governance procedures.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Facilitate smooth operations during post-mortem examinations, contributing to a safe and methodical working environment.
• Oversee daily mortuary functions to ensure all procedures are carried out in strict compliance with regulations.
• Handle tissue and fluid samples meticulously to support clinical and legal proceedings.
• Uphold high standards in hygiene, safety, and statutory compliance within the mortuary setting.

Person Specification:

• Essential qualifications include RSPH Level 3 and Level 4 Diplomas in Anatomical Pathology Technology.
• Demonstrated evidence of continued professional development relevant to mortuary practice.
• Desirable skills include training in health and safety, manual handling, and infection prevention.
• Membership of AAPT or an equivalent professional body is highly regarded.
• Substantial experience within NHS or regulated mortuaries and supporting coronial and hospital post-mortem examinations is a must.
