Air Import Freight Forwarder

Air Import Freight Forwarder required to join a leading international freight forwarding company .

Our client is a highly respected and well-established freight forwarding business, providing tailored logistics solutions across air, sea and road freight. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Air Import Freight Forwarder to join their busy Air Freight Operations team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced freight forwarding professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, managing international air import shipments from arrival through to final delivery whilst delivering an exceptional level of customer service.

The Role

As the Air Import Freight Forwarder, you will be responsible for coordinating international air import shipments, ensuring customer requirements, customs regulations and operational deadlines are met.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing day-to-day international air import shipments from arrival through to final delivery.

   

• Monitoring shipment arrivals and ensuring documentation is processed accurately and on time.

   

• Creating and maintaining accurate operational files within the freight forwarding system.

   

• Checking and processing import documentation, including MAWBs, HAWBs, commercial invoices and packing lists.

   

• Arranging customs clearance in accordance with HMRC regulations and company procedures.

   

• Coordinating final deliveries and liaising with transport providers.

   

• Liaising with overseas agents, airlines, handling agents, customers and internal departments.

   

• Providing proactive shipment updates to customers, including any delays or changes to delivery schedules.

   

• Resolving operational issues, delays and customer queries efficiently and professionally.

   

• Ensuring all operational milestones are updated accurately within the freight forwarding system.

   

• Ensuring all costs, buy and sell rates, and billing information are entered accurately and within required timescales.

   

• Working closely with customs, warehouse, gateway, finance and export teams to ensure the smooth progression of shipments.

   

• Working to company KPIs, service levels, compliance procedures and aviation security regulations.

   

• Supporting colleagues during busy periods and providing holiday cover where required.

   

The Person

To be considered for this role, you will have:

• Previous experience within Air Import Freight Forwarding.

   

• A good understanding of import customs procedures and air freight documentation.

   

• Experience using CargoWise or a similar freight forwarding system would be advantageous.

   

• Excellent communication and customer service skills with a proactive approach to client care.

   

• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.

   

• The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

   

• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.

   

• The ability to work independently whilst also contributing positively as part of a team.

   

Experience with Dangerous Goods, airline portals, aviation security or temperature-controlled shipments would be advantageous but is not essential.

Package

• Monday to Friday

   

• 9:00am - 5:30pm

   

• One-hour lunch break

   

• One day working from home per week following successful completion of the probationary period
