Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking a skilled and compassionate Adult Social Worker to join its Learning Disability Team. This role focuses on promoting wellbeing, safeguarding, and delivering person‑centred outcomes for adults with learning disabilities. You will work flexibly across part‑time or full‑time hours while contributing to high‑quality Adult Social Care services.
What you will do
- Manage a caseload of adults with learning disabilities, delivering tailored and effective support.
- Complete Care Act 2014 assessments, reviews, and person‑centred support planning.
- Undertake Mental Capacity Act assessments and make Best Interest decisions.
- Lead and contribute to safeguarding enquiries, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of service users.
- Promote independence, choice, and control through a strengths‑based approach.
- Work collaboratively with health professionals, families, and care providers.
- Support transitions from Children’s to Adult Services, ensuring continuity and stability.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date case records in line with statutory and local authority requirements.
Requirements
Essential:
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Experience within Adult Social Care, ideally supporting adults with learning disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Safeguarding Adults procedures.
- Proven ability in assessment, care planning, and multi‑agency working.
- Ability to manage complex caseloads with excellent communication and report‑writing skills.
Desirable:
- Previous experience within a Learning Disability Team.
- Knowledge of Continuing Healthcare (CHC) processes.
- Familiarity with case management systems such as Mosaic or Liquidlogic.
