Job Title: SEND Specialist Resources Technician
Rate: £100 per day
Contract: 0.6 FTE (working days negotiable)
Duration: Until end of July in the first instance, with potential for extension
Location: Based at The Shay Stadium, with regular travel required to schools across Calderdale
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable SEND Specialist Resources Technician to support the delivery, setup, and maintenance of specialist learning resources and assistive technologies used by children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
This is a hands-on, mobile role requiring both technical understanding and a strong commitment to inclusive education. You will work from a central base in Halifax while visiting multiple education settings across Calderdale to ensure learners have access to appropriate tools and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, maintain, and deploy specialist SEND resources and equipment
- Support the setup and troubleshooting of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and assistive technology devices
- Provide on-site technical support during school visits
- Liaise with school staff to ensure effective use of resources
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, repairs, and allocations
- Support the adaptation and personalisation of learning materials
- Ensure all equipment is safe, functional, and appropriately configured for learner needs
Essential Requirements
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to travel independently across Calderdale schools
- Good communication skills when working with education staff
- Practical, problem-solving approach to technical issues
- Understanding of safeguarding and working in school environments
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
- Experience with AAC systems and communication aids
- Familiarity with assistive technologies used in education settings
- Previous experience working in schools, outreach services, or technical support roles
