Project Officer – Children’s Services
Location: Barnsley
Pay: £18.35 per hour
Hours: 37 per week

Seven Resourcing is seeking an experienced Project Officer to join the Early Start and Families Service within Children’s Services in Barnsley. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the service to progress work in relation to the local Family Hubs offer, contributing to the improvement of outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with project management, co-ordinating resources to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Ensure that projects are effectively planned and managed within a formal programme and project management framework.
  • Provide advice and guidance in relation to projects, considering complex people-related issues, and ensure that milestones and information are communicated to stakeholders.
  • Support the maintenance of project risk registers and assist in resolving issues.
  • Contribute to performance management and data analysis, promoting quality practice and service delivery.
  • Assist in the identification, evaluation and implementation of processes, technology and systems to improve service delivery.
  • Maintain a library of documents and information to support project management.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise, negotiate, and collaborate with managers, employees, councillors, and partner agencies.
  • Keep up to date with local and national developments affecting children’s services.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, legal, statutory, and financial regulations.
  • Carry out any other duties appropriate to the role as requested by management.

Candidate Requirements:

Education & Training:

  • Relevant Level 2 qualification.
  • Relevant Project/Programme Management training OR substantial demonstrable experience working in a project management environment.

Experience:

  • Substantial experience supporting the delivery of projects to completion.
  • Experience working in a project management environment, using recognised methodologies.
  • Experience in continuous service improvement.
  • Ability to advise and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience presenting information verbally and in writing.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of children’s services and service transformation.
  • Understanding of project management methodology.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to research, collate, and analyse data to produce reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Knowledge of the pressures facing children’s social care or related services.
