We're looking for an exceptional Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly-regarded specialist secondary school in Leeds. This is your opportunity to gain invaluable experience working with pupils who have complex needs whilst building a rewarding career in education, psychology, or mental health support.

About the Role

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll support students aged 11–16 with diverse SEMH needs, including anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and challenging behaviours. You'll work both one-to-one and in small groups, helping to create a safe, nurturing environment where students can develop self-regulation skills, emotional resilience, and positive learning outcomes.

This position is perfect for Psychology graduates or individuals with proven experience in mentoring, coaching, youth work, or caring roles. You'll need resilience, emotional intelligence, and the confidence to de-escalate challenging situations whilst building trusting relationships with vulnerable young people.

What We Offer

  • Full-time, long-term position – Monday to Friday, term time only
  • Competitive salary – Up to £560 per week
  • Excellent location – Well-resourced specialist SEN school in Leeds
  • Comprehensive training – Ongoing CPD from experienced inclusion specialists
  • Career development – Invaluable experience for Educational Psychology or mental health pathways
  • Long-term opportunity – Starting September 2025 with genuine progression prospects
  • Supportive environment – Dedicated mentorship from experienced professionals
  • Work-life balance – School holidays off

We're Looking For

  • A degree (2:1 or higher) in Psychology or a related subject
  • Strong interpersonal and behaviour management skills
  • A calm, confident, and professional approach to challenging situations
  • Experience working with children or teenagers (highly advantageous)
  • Excellent communication skills and natural empathy
  • UK work eligibility (visa sponsorship not available)

Why This Role?

This Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant position provides an exceptional foundation for anyone committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people with additional needs. You'll develop essential skills and gain practical experience that will prove invaluable for careers in SEN teaching, Educational Psychology, youth work, or mental health support.
