Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Safeguarding Team in Durham, specialising in child safeguarding. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across Child in Need (CiN), Child Protection (CP), Public Law Outline (PLO), and Court processes, providing vital support to children and families. Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive Children & Families assessments and prepare high-quality reports.
Chair Core Groups and Child in Need meetings, ensuring agreed actions are implemented.
Prepare and maintain detailed reports and care plans for Children in Care.
Participate in PLO meetings and contribute to planning and review processes.
Present evidence in Court settings as required.
Engage directly with children and families involved in CiN, CP, PLO, and Court processes.
Stay up to date with current legislation, guidance, and safeguarding best practices.
Undertake additional duties as directed by your manager.

Person Specification

Essential:

Experienced social worker with expertise in child safeguarding.
Registered with Social Work England.
Strong assessment, planning, and analytical skills.
Experience chairing meetings and producing high-quality reports.
Confidence in providing Court evidence.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.

Desirable:

Experience in a local authority safeguarding team.
Knowledge of the Children Act 1989/2004 and relevant legislation.
Familiarity with hybrid working methodologies.

Additional Information

Enhanced DBS check required.
Occasional county-wide travel may be necessary.
Fixed-term cover for maternity leave.
