Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant: The Role
As a Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a focus on Humanities subjects (History, Geography, RE, Sociology)
- Work closely with class teachers to deliver engaging lessons, prepare resources, and ensure accessibility for all learners
- Provide 1:1 and small-group interventions to boost student progress, confidence, and subject knowledge
- Assist with behaviour management by using positive strategies that encourage resilience and independent learning
- Play a key role in inspiring a love for Humanities and preparing pupils for their GCSEs and beyond
Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant: Candidate Specification
To be successful in this Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant role you must have:
- A 2:1 or higher degree in a Humanities-related subject (History, Geography, RE, Politics, Sociology, English, etc.)
- A genuine passion for education and working with young people
- Excellent communication skills, patience, and the ability to motivate and inspire
- Previous experience with young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential
