Financial Controller | €60,000-€70,000 | Essen, Germany in Germany

I am searching for an experienced Financial Controller to join an international service organisation in the immigration and public services sector. Due to recent growth, the finance team is expanding, and this role offers the opportunity to take ownership of core controlling and accounting processes while supporting a business in transition and integration.

Your Experience

• Native German speaker with strong English communication skills
• Ideally 5 years’ experience in controlling, though applications from candidates with 2–3 years will be considered
• Solid knowledge of AP, AR, and general accounting processes
• Experience working with DATEV; exposure to SAP and integration projects is highly desirable
• Hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to manage operational finance tasks as well as reporting
• Comfortable working in a lean team environment, with the ability to collaborate internationally

Your Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day controlling activities, including reporting, forecasting, and budgeting
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Support the integration of new systems and processes across the finance function
• Partner with the Finance Director (based in Switzerland) and another Controller to deliver timely and accurate financial data
• Lead month-end and year-end closing, VAT, and statutory compliance
• Work closely with external auditors and support audit preparation
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to management to support decision-making
