A dedicated specialist school in Tower Hamlets are seeking a Psychology Graduate SEN teaching assistant to join their school in September. The school has a reputation for providing outstanding support for staff and students. The school cater for students aged 5–19 who have a primary diagnosis of autism. Many of the students may have additional needs including a cognitive impairment, speech and language difficulties or difficulties associated with social communication.

Psychology Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant -The Role

  • Earn up to £650 per week
  • Full-time, long-term Psychology Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant role
  • Work with students 1:1 and in small groups to support learning and development
  • Support emotional regulation, communication, and daily routines
  • Collaborate with SEN teachers and therapists to implement individual support plans
  • Assist with classroom management and contribute to a positive learning environment
  • Gain insight into intervention strategies, therapeutic approaches, and EHCP processes

Psychology Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant - Person Specification

  • Minimum 2:1 degree in Psychology, or related fields preferred
  • Experience working with young people with SEN (in any setting) is highly desirable
  • High levels of empathy, patience, and resilience
  • Confident, calm, and compassionate approach to behaviour and emotional needs
  • A genuine passion for working in SEN education and helping vulnerable students succeed.
