About the Role – Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant
As a Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant, you’ll work alongside subject specialists and experienced educators to enhance student engagement and achievement in STEM subjects. Your role will involve:
- Providing targeted academic support in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Engineering-based subjects
- Delivering small-group or 1:1 intervention session to bridge learning gaps or challenge high achievers
- Assisting in lesson planning and classroom delivery, with opportunities to lead activities as you develop
- Mentoring students and offering study skills guidance, particularly in preparation for GCSEs and A-Levels
- Gaining meaningful classroom experience and insight into diverse teaching strategies
Who Should Apply? – Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant Profile
We’re looking for passionate, driven individuals who are ready to make a positive difference in the classroom:
- A 2:1 or higher degree in a STEM-related subject (e.g. Maths, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science)
- Strong subject knowledge and confidence supporting KS3 and KS4 learners (KS5 desirable)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive, adaptable, and supportive approach to working with students of varying needs
- Previous experience working with young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, outreach) is advantageous but not essential
