The Role – Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant
As a Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant, you will support students across Maths, Science, and related disciplines, working in close collaboration with classroom teachers and specialist staff. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing focused academic support in subjects such as Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Engineering.
- Delivering targeted one-to-one or small group intervention sessions to bridge learning gaps and extend high-achievers.
- Assisting in lesson planning and contributing to teaching delivery, with opportunities to lead segments over time.
- Supporting students with study skills, revision strategies, and exam preparation, particularly for GCSE and A-Level assessments.
- Developing your own teaching skills through mentorship and reflective practice in a real classroom setting.
Candidate Profile – Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant
We are looking for individuals who are not only academically accomplished but also genuinely driven to inspire and support the next generation of STEM learners. The ideal Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant will have:
- A 2:1 degree or higher in a STEM-related subject (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Computer Science).
- Strong subject knowledge and the confidence to support learners across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 experience is advantageous).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and adaptable mindset with a genuine enthusiasm for helping young people succeed.
- Any prior experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is welcomed but not essential.
