Operations Advisor - 6 Month Contract - Based in Aberdeen

Our Client has a requirement for an Operations Advisor, who will be required to work on a Contract basis in Aberdeen.

Location: Aberdeen, occasional trips to barrow/offshore

Contract: 6 Month Contract

IR35 status: Inside IR35

Rate: negotiable dependant on experience PAYE

Hybrid: 3 days office, 2 days home, must be Tuesday and Wednesday in office and one other day of your choice

Job Overview:

Purpose Statement

  • Accountable for the development of the Operating Integrity Framework and its assurance and governance processes across ourclient.
  • Ensure best practice execution of operations within our client's operated assets.
  • Provide subject matter expert input across the full lifecycle of all operated assets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Standards and Process Development

  • Lead the refresh of Spirit Energy’s Permit to Work (PtW) and Safe Isolation and Reinstatement of Plant processes, including development and embedding of standardised, efficient processes across all assets.
  • Lead the update and enhancement of our clients electronic PtW system, ensuring effective Management of Change (MoC) and procedural compliance.
  • Introduce and implement an electronic handover and Control of Temporary Equipment tool, including associated MoC.

2. Operations Skill Pool Development

  • Collaborate with the Training & Competence team to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the T&C process across operated assets, with a focus on shift-level T&C status measurement.
  • Maintain and facilitate an active cross-asset Operations Integrity Forum.

3. Production Operations Support

  • Provide objective input and support to resolve complex production operations issues or threats across operated assets.

4. Leadership and Culture

  • Foster and uphold a culture aligned with our client's core values and leadership expectations.
  • Model safety-first behavior and champion incident-free operations.
  • Lead technical excellence and ensure alignment with industry and functional best practices.
  • Communicate with clarity and influence, enabling two-way engagement across teams.

5. Performance Management and Development

  • Role model our client's Values and drive high standards of behavior and performance.
  • Support and sponsor skills, competency, and career development in line with policy.
  • Promote development through varied assignments and progression opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience:

Competencies

  • Solid understanding of operational management, readiness, and assurance.
  • Knowledge of major hazard legislation and its operational implications.
  • Experience in Process Safety Management and applying Operating Integrity frameworks.
  • Decisive leadership with high standards, resilience, and adaptability.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, fostering collaboration and shared understanding.
  • Proven capability in leading change and making quality, timely decisions.

Key Technical Skills

  • Strong leadership in operational environments with Major Accident Hazards.
  • Recognized expertise in Operating Integrity.
  • Effective financial cost management.
  • Ongoing maintenance and development of relevant technical competencies.

Education

  • Degree preferred; however, significant relevant experience will be considered in lieu.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly in supervisory and management roles within operations.

Certifications

  • BOSIET and MIST (or willingness and ability to obtain).

Mandatory Training

  • All our client's compliance and mandatory training, including annual refreshers.
