Lead Electrical Design Engineer in United Kingdom

Our Client has a requirement for a Lead Electrical Design Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis.

Role Purpose:

• Our Client is seeking experienced and forward-thinking Lead Electrical Design Engineers to join a rapidly expanding Energy & Power division, delivering critical infrastructure projects aligned with the UK’s net-zero and sustainability goals. Working on major design & build schemes across 400kV+ substations, protection & control systems, cable, and overhead line infrastructure.

Job Role Responsibilities:

• Lead or contribute to the delivery of detailed Electrical Designs
• Collaborate with project managers, civil engineers, and programme leads to ensure timely, safe, and technically excellent designs.
• Provide technical assurance and oversee quality in alignment with National Grid and contractor standards.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

• MEng / BEng in Electrical Engineering or equivalent accredited qualification.
• Minimum 10 years of electrical design experience, with at least 2–3 years on National Grid 400kV projects
• Strong grasp of design on HV transmission and distribution projects, including substations, protection & control, OHL, and cable systems.
