What you will do:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and manage risks to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people, aligning with local and national guidelines.
- Manage a caseload of children, young people, and families, ensuring work aligns with statutory guidelines, budgets, and procedures.
- Support families using a restorative and strengths-based approach, helping develop safety plans with family and professional engagement.
- Perform direct work with children, families, and carers, providing support and challenge to maintain children safely within their family home.
- Facilitate Family Group Conferences or Meetings to actively engage families in planning and assessment.
- Plan, implement, and monitor tailored interventions, using evidence-based methods to build resilience and prevent children from entering care.
- Collaborate with multi-agency professionals to ensure coordinated support and effective safeguarding.
- Complete all assessments, reports, and casework in a timely manner, adhering to standards and timescales.
- Maintain accurate records, prepare legal reports, and provide court evidence when required.
- Support efforts for children returning to their family homes, offering intensive support during crises with gradual reduction as family independence grows.
- Advocate for the voice and rights of the child, ensuring their views are respected throughout all interventions.
- Challenge and report any abusive, discriminatory, or exploitative behaviour for effective safeguarding of children and families.
- Engage in supervision, training, and team meetings to enhance professional skills and maintain high-quality practice.
- Mentor less experienced social workers and contribute to the development of social work students as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation such as the Children Act and safeguarding policies.
- Work flexibly, including home visits and community-based support, to meet diverse family needs.
