Role Purpose

To lead and manage a specialist team delivering statutory social care services for children with disabilities. The role focuses on providing high-quality assessments, safeguarding, care planning, and family support, all in line with Birmingham Children’s Trust’s statutory obligations and values.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership and supervision to a multidisciplinary team, including Social Workers, Family Support Workers, and Occupational Therapists.

• Promote best practice through case audits, reflective supervision, and continuous development activities.

• Lead safeguarding strategies and ensure effective risk management across the team.

• Ensure timely and outcome-driven assessments and care planning for children with disabilities.

• Build strong partnerships with health, education, legal, and voluntary sector agencies for integrated service delivery.

• Contribute to the design, implementation, and monitoring of specialist disability services.

• Manage financial resources and team budgets, ensuring efficiency and compliance with policy.

Essential Requirements

• Recognised Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.

• Substantial frontline experience in statutory children’s services, ideally within disability settings.

• Proven experience in a supervisory or management role.

• Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act, SEND Code of Practice, and safeguarding frameworks.

• Management qualification or a willingness to undertake one.
