Role Purpose
To lead and manage a specialist team delivering statutory social care services for children with disabilities. The role focuses on providing high-quality assessments, safeguarding, care planning, and family support, all in line with Birmingham Children’s Trust’s statutory obligations and values.
Key Responsibilities

Provide operational leadership and supervision to a multidisciplinary team, including Social Workers, Family Support Workers, and Occupational Therapists.

Promote best practice through case audits, reflective supervision, and continuous development activities.

Lead safeguarding strategies and ensure effective risk management across the team.

Ensure timely and outcome-driven assessments and care planning for children with disabilities.

Build strong partnerships with health, education, legal, and voluntary sector agencies for integrated service delivery.

Contribute to the design, implementation, and monitoring of specialist disability services.

Manage financial resources and team budgets, ensuring efficiency and compliance with policy.
Essential Requirements

Recognised Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.

Substantial frontline experience in statutory children’s services, ideally within disability settings.

Proven experience in a supervisory or management role.

Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act, SEND Code of Practice, and safeguarding frameworks.

Management qualification or a willingness to undertake one.
