An exciting opportunity awaits for an experienced and passionate Social Worker to join our dynamic Children & Families Team in Cheltenham. This locum position offers both flexibility and challenge, with a diverse caseload and the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and their families.

Role Overview

As a Social Worker, you will manage a mixed caseload of approximately 18 children, including:

• Children in Need (CIN)

• Child Protection (CP)

• Children in Care (CIC)

• Court work, where required

You will deliver evidence-based interventions to support the welfare and development of children and young people, ensuring they are safeguarded and thriving in their environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain a balanced, varied caseload with a focus on outcomes

• Undertake comprehensive assessments and create tailored care plans

• Participate in court proceedings, including report writing and providing expert testimony

• Collaborate closely with internal teams and multi-agency partners to deliver joined-up services

• Ensure children are seen in person unless COVID protocols require alternative arrangements

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker with registration to Social Work England

• Proven experience in children’s social care, ideally within CIN, CP, CIC, or court settings

• Sound understanding of relevant legislation and statutory responsibilities

• Strong communication, analytical, and organisational skills

• Commitment to delivering person-centred and strengths-based practice
