A highly regarded secondary school in Hammersmith, West London, is seeking a dedicated Graduate English Academic Mentor to join their team. About the Role
As an English Academic Mentor, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students across Key Stage 3, 4, and 5. Your role will involve leading small group and one-to-one sessions designed to improve students’ reading, writing, and analytical skills. You will play a vital part in raising attainment, building confidence, and fostering a love of English language and literature.
You will also assist with planning and delivering targeted interventions, tracking progress, and contributing to the broader pastoral support within the school. This role offers invaluable classroom experience, ideal for graduates considering teacher training or other careers in education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging academic mentoring sessions focused on English language and literature.
- Support students preparing for GCSE and A-Level English assessments.
- Collaborate with teachers to tailor learning strategies for individual student needs.
- Monitor and assess student progress to ensure continuous improvement.
- Participate in extracurricular activities that promote literacy and creativity.
Candidate Profile:
- Recent graduate with a 2:1 degree or higher in English or a related discipline.
- Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for education.
- A motivated and adaptable individual, eager to work in a fast-paced school environment.
- Previous experience working with young people, such as tutoring or volunteering, is advantageous but not essential.
