What you will do:

  • Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive health visiting services to children and families, including health promotion and illness prevention.
  • Conduct holistic assessments using frameworks like the Common Assessment Framework to formulate care packages alongside families.
  • Provide evidence-based advice on various health issues such as breastfeeding, healthy eating, and accident prevention.
  • Deliver the Healthy Child Programme, ensuring timely health reviews, developmental checks, and interventions.
  • Coordinate care with GPs, paediatricians, and social workers to safeguard children at risk of harm.
  • Manage and delegate tasks to nursery nurses and support staff, providing supervision and professional development.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and legal requirements.
  • Engage with families and local partners through community outreach activities and health promotion programmes.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered nurse or midwife with a recognised Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) qualification in Health Visiting.
  • Experience in community or public health settings, focusing on children and families.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection legislation.
  • Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills are essential.
  • You should be able to work independently and thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment.
