Role Requirements

• BSc in Diagnostic Radiography, Midwifery, or Nursing (or equivalent qualification).

• Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma in Medical Ultrasound (MSc in Ultrasound desirable).

• Registered with HCPC, BMUS, or SOR (or equivalent recognised body).

• FASP-compliant with evidence of FMF registration.

• A minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience, including early pregnancy, NT, anomaly, and Doppler assessments.

• Full UK driving licence – essential for travelling between clinical sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently perform and report on obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound scans in line with national and departmental standards.

• Step in to lead the ultrasound service in the absence of the Lead Sonographer.

• Ensure the delivery of safe and compassionate care, complying with Health and Safety regulations.

• Collaborate with midwives, obstetricians, and other multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure integrated care.

• Provide clinical supervision and training to student sonographers.

• Participate in clinical audits, peer reviews, and initiatives aimed at maintaining and enhancing service quality.
