Graduate Academic Mentor – Up to £520 per week

Location: Stoke-on-Trent

Start: September 2025 or Immediate

We are seeking a dedicated Graduate Academic Mentor to join a nurturing secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate eager to gain hands-on experience working with students who require additional academic and emotional support—particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs—while making a genuine difference every day.

Graduate Academic Mentor – What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group academic support to students across subjects

  • Supporting students with SEMH or behavioural needs to stay engaged in learning

  • Helping pupils build study skills, organisation, and self-confidence

  • Assisting in classroom settings and delivering targeted interventions

  • Collaborating with teachers and SENCOs to tailor support plans

  • Using restorative and inclusive practices to maintain a positive learning environment

  • Encouraging student progress, both academically and personally

  • Acting as a trusted role model and mentor for students facing barriers to learning

Graduate Academic Mentor – What We’re Looking For:

  • A 2:1 degree or above – ideally in Education, Psychology, English, Maths, Science, or a related field

  • Previous experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • A calm, confident, and compassionate approach to mentoring

  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and independently when required

  • A commitment to helping all students succeed, regardless of background

  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in education, SEN, or youth support
