What you will do:
- Provide strong leadership, professional guidance, and supervision to a team of qualified Social Workers and MASH officers, fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment.
- Allocate and prioritise referrals and cases, ensuring all safeguarding concerns are assessed promptly and appropriately in line with statutory guidance and local procedures.
- Oversee and review threshold decisions on cases, ensuring decisions are robust, evidence-based, and compliant with child protection legislation.
- Coordinate multi-agency information sharing and collaborative working with partners including Health, Police, Education, and the Voluntary Sector to facilitate early identification and assessment of risks.
- Lead and facilitate multi-agency discussions and threshold meetings to determine the level of intervention required and ensure effective safeguarding responses.
- Promote continuous professional development and reflective practice within the team to maintain high standards of social work and service delivery.
- Prepare and present detailed reports for case conferences, court proceedings, and other relevant forums, ensuring documentation is accurate and child-focused.
- Monitor team performance and contribute to quality assurance frameworks to drive improvements in safeguarding practice.
- Support the implementation of flexible working arrangements to balance team members’ professional and personal commitments.
Person Specification:
- Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
- Proven experience in social work leadership, preferably within a MASH or safeguarding context.
- Extensive knowledge of childcare legislation, statutory guidance, and child development principles.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to evaluate complex safeguarding information and make informed judgements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children, families, and multi-agency partners.
- Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and promoting equality and diversity.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure while maintaining a high standard of practice.
