Build Your Career in Advanced Composite Manufacturing with a Growing Engineering Team!Our Client has a requirement for a Fabricator, who will be required to work on a permanent basis in Plymouth.Role Purpose: Support the production of high-quality composite components using advanced fabrication techniquesContribute to the manufacture of complex, high-value engineering products within a structured manufacturing environmentDevelop and enhance composite fabrication skills through hands-on training and practical experienceMaintain high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency throughout all manufacturing activitiesWork collaboratively within a skilled production team to achieve operational objectives Job Role Responsibilities: Prepare moulds, materials, and consumables in line with process requirementsCarry out composite fabrication activities including hand lay-up, wet lamination, and vacuum infusionUse hand tools and basic power tools safely and effectively to trim, drill, fit, and finish componentsAssemble composite components and sub-assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings and work instructionsPrepare composite surfaces for painting or coating, including sanding, filling, masking, and cleaning to specified standardsEnsure production targets are achieved without compromising quality or safetyMaintain strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality management systemsIdentify and minimise material waste through efficient working practicesMaintain a clean, organised, and controlled manufacturing environmentAccurately record completed work to ensure full traceability and compliance with quality requirementsSupport continuous improvement initiatives within the fabrication process Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications: Previous experience in composite fabrication is preferred, with a strong emphasis on lamination and vacuum infusionSound understanding of composite materials, resins, reinforcements, and consumablesAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, laminate schedules, and technical documentationCompetent in the use of hand tools, trimming tools, and measuring equipmentExperience working to tight tolerances and high-quality workmanship standardsFamiliarity with controlled manufacturing environments and quality systemsStrong attention to detail and problem-solving abilitiesGood time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a production environmentStrong commitment to maintaining safe working practices and quality standardsAbility to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasksEffective team player who collaborates well with colleagues across the manufacturing teamProfessional and proactive approach to workWillingness to share knowledge and promote best practicesPositive attitude towards learning, development, and continuous improvement Benefits: Opportunity to develop specialist composite fabrication skillsStructured training and ongoing professional developmentSafe, supportive, and collaborative working environmentExposure to advanced manufacturing processes and technologiesCareer progression opportunities within a global organisationParticipation in continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives Company informationAt First Recruitment Group we understand just how important it is to secure the right people.
