To prepare and review tenders being processed in the Estimating departmentTo liaise with the Estimating Director/Commercial Director/Finance department on contractual terms, bonds and insurancesTo liaise with Senior Management and obtain their input into tenders, offers and proposals.To arrange handover meetings and formally hand-over new contractsTo assist the Estimating Director /Pre-Construction Director in developing new contacts and clientsTo lead negotiations in relation to tenders, offers and proposals, when directed to by the Estimating Director /Pre-Construction DirectorExperience on working on Frameworks through all stagesSound knowledge of Estimating on large scale building projectsPrice from first principles, procurement of subs/materials quotes, preparation of tender settlement sheets to main contractor's PrelimsPrepare Cost Plans from inception and prepare own quantities from minimal informationTake ownership with tenders from receiving the documents through to adjudication of tenders.Meet and engage with key Supply Chain during the tender process periodFulfil the role of Senior Estimator on projects, managing all estimating elements with interface with suppliers, clients and across our commercial, operations and project functionsUnderstand the corporate and contract specific estimating procedures and carry out all work in accordance with theseResponsible for the preparation of estimates from conception through to detailed estimates for identified projects within the companyAssist in the training of estimating staff and trainees/graduates working in or seconded to the department for a period of timeAbility to understand complex engineering drawings and designs and to translate these into build needs, sequence and timingsAssessment and recording of the likely competition when tenderingLiaise with the procurement in dealing with suppliers and subcontractors at tender stage to obtain the most competitive prices ensuring firm quotes are received for significant materials and subcontract items to support the best net estimateRequesting further information from Client/Design Team and arrange meeting if requiredAttend handover meeting and brief team on tender bidRun multiple projects at any one time at different stages, cost plan, design feasibility, competitive tenderProducing estimates and cost plans from concept plans and specificationExcellent construction technology knowledgeWork on Conquest Estimating System including On Screen Take OffDatabase managementDesign /Cost ControlSubcontract analysis and comparisons What We’re Looking ForEssential Proven track record as an Estimator.Excellent communication and Numeracy skillsMaintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications.Strong numerical and analytical skillsProficiency in estimating software Desirable Educated to degree or HND level with relevant work experience How to Apply:If you’re ready to take the next step in your career with a company that values your expertise and innovation, we’d love to hear from you! Design Managers are professionals who manage design teams and all the processes in relation to producing a set of construction issue deliverables that a building can be built from.The design management role can encompass overseeing internal and external design consultant teams, controlling the development of the design concept into manufacturing and managing the installation information. This can be a challenging and highly satisfying role with the Design Manager playing a key part in the overall success of a project. Operational Issue permits for various work activities, and close out accordingly. Have the ability to undertake material/equipment orders, and liaise with the project quantity surveyor.Provisions/diversion/upgrade/protection works, and be able to manage the process via meetings/dialogue etc. with the relevant utility companies.Make any necessary applications for permits to the Highways Authority for road openings, location of skips and/or welfare facilities.Make any necessary applications to utility companies for temporary building water, drainage discharge and electricity connections to welfare facilitiesHave an understanding of any off-site Highways works, and be able to manage the process via meetings/dialogue etc. with relevant parties. Quality Raise NCR’s for works undertaken that are of poor quality.Ensure that sub-contractors compile and issue inspection and test plans (ITP’s) for various works packages, and that these are checked and closed out accordingly.Compile snagging lists and manage the process for closing out. Health & Safety Understand their duties and responsibilities with regards to current Health and Safety/CDM legislation, and the responsibilities of other parties, and ensure compliance on each project.Undertake the role of temporary works coordinator (where applicable).Ensure labour only sub-contractors have been properly assessed for the tasks they are undertaken and that method statements and risk assessments are in place for them. What We’re Looking For A relevant professional qualification A proven track record of success in safe delivery of high-quality medium to large scale projects to budget and programme including managing and controlling subcontractors in line with the programme, safety and environmental legislation.
