Drive the future of water infrastructure – lead design excellence on major programmes.Our Client has a requirement for a Technical Design Manager, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Falmer (hybrid working with site travel).Role Purpose: Lead technical design governance across water infrastructure projectsEnsure robust engineering solutions from concept through to deliveryOversee design development, ensuring quality, compliance, and efficiencySupport the delivery of cost-effective, sustainable engineering solutions Job Role Responsibilities: Provide technical assurance across Design Managers and discipline engineersLead solution development from initial need through optioneering and detailed designEnsure designs are deliverable, cost-effective, and aligned to programme requirementsIdentify and manage technical risks across the design lifecycleCollaborate with clients, construction teams, and supply chain partnersDrive buildability and efficiency within design outputsEnsure compliance with CDM Regulations and internal governance processesPromote innovation and continuous improvement in engineering delivery Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications: Engineering background with degree qualification (or equivalent)Strong experience in water / wastewater infrastructure projectsBackground working in design-build or contractor environmentsProven experience at Design Manager / Engineering Manager / Technical Lead levelStrong understanding of design governance and technical deliveryCommercial awareness with experience reviewing technical documentationAbility to manage scope changes and stakeholder expectations Desirable: Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)Experience working in joint venture environmentsExperience with offsite or modular design solutions Company InformationAt First Recruitment Group we understand just how important it is to secure the right people.
