What you will do Conduct manual, semi-automated, and fully automated haematology and blood transfusion investigations in line with departmental SOPs.Analyse, validate, and authorise laboratory results, ensuring any abnormal findings are escalated promptly.Operate and troubleshoot laboratory analysers and equipment, implementing contingency measures as necessary.Participate in quality management activities such as IQC, EQA, audits, and reporting non-conformances.Rotate across different sections of the Blood Sciences service to maintain competence and support the laboratory's operational resilience. Person Specification Band 5 Appointment: Possessing a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science or an equivalent recognised qualification is essential.HCPC Registration: Registration with the HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist is required.Band 6 Appointment: An IBMS Specialist Portfolio or Diploma in Haematology, Blood Transfusion, or a related Blood Sciences discipline is required.Band 5 Experience: Experience in an NHS or UKAS-accredited pathology laboratory.Band 6 Experience: Post-registration experience with responsibilities including authorising results and supporting out-of-hours services.
