Are you a multiskilled maintenance professional with strong PLC skills? This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a key technical role where you’ll act as the go-to expert for PLC, controls, and automation issues across a large, high-performance operation.
We're looking for someone who can combine hands-on maintenance expertise with strong fault management, data analysis, and technical leadership. If you enjoy getting stuck into complex problems, improving reliability, and supporting a skilled engineering team—this role is for you.
The Role
As the onsite Technical Specialist, you will:

Act as the primary point of contact for all technical and controls-related faults.

Manage technical fault escalation, liaising with internal teams, wider technical networks, and third-party support.

Use SCADA/EIS data to identify top recurring issues, driving targeted maintenance activities.

Carry out root-cause analysis using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone and Lean methodologies.

Optimise equipment availability and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Manage PLC backups, version control, and change management.

Deliver hands-on training and coaching to shift Technicians, enhancing site-wide technical capability.

Maintain and update technical documentation, including hardware maps, configuration files and programs.

Ensure compliance with all safety and quality standards for both internal and contractor activities.
What We’re Looking For

Strong multiskilled maintenance background (mechanical & electrical).

Ability to fault-find and modify PLC programs (minimum requirement).

Confident working with automated / controls equipment, with solid understanding of PC, PLC, and communication systems.

Excellent diagnostic skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Experience using SCADA/EIS or similar data-driven tools is beneficial.

Strong communication skills and the ability to support and guide colleagues.

Forces/Armed Forces background highly valued.

Must have full right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available).
