Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide both strategic and operational leadership, ensuring the delivery of high standards of youth justice services in line with service-wide objectives.

  • Team Management: Oversee the work of deputy team managers and youth justice officers, ensuring service delivery aligns with professional and regulatory standards.

  • Consultation & Decision-Making: Provide expert consultation and decision-making support in safeguarding young people while managing potential risks they may pose to others.

  • Evaluation & Feedback: Lead the evaluation of services through observations, reflective feedback, and audits, incorporating the views of young people and their families to improve service delivery.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with research, best practices, and continuous professional development to enhance the service's overall impact.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience within the youth justice or social care field.

  • Strong knowledge of youth justice legislation, safeguarding protocols, and risk management.

  • Experience in managing and leading multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring service quality and compliance.

  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including young people, families, and partner agencies.

  • Passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of young people in the justice system.
