Role Overview

An excellent locum opportunity has arisen for an experienced Team Manager to join the Children’s Assessment Team in Havering. Key Responsibilities / What You Will Do

  • Lead and manage the Assessment Team to ensure timely and effective safeguarding interventions.
  • Oversee and quality‑assure assessments in line with statutory requirements and local practice standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies for managing workload, performance, and service improvements.
  • Provide regular supervision, coaching, and professional development to team members.
  • Promote multidisciplinary collaboration with partner agencies to enhance outcomes for children and families.
  • Monitor team performance and utilise data to drive service improvements and informed decision‑making.
  • Uphold best practice principles and contribute to strategic planning within the service.

Requirements / Candidate Criteria

Essential

  • Qualified Social Worker with recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Proven leadership experience within children’s services, particularly assessment or safeguarding.
  • Strong understanding of statutory frameworks, thresholds, and assessment procedures.
  • Demonstrable ability to lead teams in high‑demand environments.

Desirable

  • Experience contributing to service improvement plans.
  • Skilled in managing competing priorities and complex decision‑making.
  • Knowledge of Havering’s local structures or similar boroughs.
