What You Will Do
Screening & Triage
-
Receive, screen, and prioritise safeguarding referrals in line with Durham’s thresholds.

Assess risk and vulnerability to determine required intervention levels, from Early Help to Child Protection.

Respond swiftly to high-risk cases using sound professional judgement.
Multi-Agency Information Gathering
-
Liaise with Police, Health, Education, and partner agencies to collect and analyse key information.

Participate in multi-agency discussions and strategy meetings, sharing insights to support decision-making.

Promote collaborative working to ensure effective and timely safeguarding responses.
Safeguarding & Risk Assessment

Conduct Section 47 Child Protection enquiries where required.

Use evidence-based tools and frameworks to assess risk and need.

Identify children at heightened risk, including those affected by domestic abuse or neglect.
Decision-Making & Recommendations

Make timely, well-evidenced decisions in line with statutory safeguarding thresholds.

Provide clear rationales for all decisions and recommendations.

Escalate concerns appropriately and challenge where necessary to ensure children’s safety.
Case Recording & Quality Assurance

Maintain accurate and detailed electronic case records.

Ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation, guidance, and local procedures.

Contribute to audits, reflective learning, and service improvement activities.
Partnership Working & Professional Leadership

Build strong, effective relationships with key safeguarding partners.

Offer professional advice on statutory duties and safeguarding processes.

Contribute to continuous improvement across MASH and wider children’s services.
Professional Development

Maintain Social Work England registration and adhere to professional standards.
