Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join the Assessment Team within Children’s Services in Slough. This ongoing locum role offers flexible working arrangements with both full-time and part-time options available.
You will play a key role in safeguarding children and supporting families through high-quality assessments, ensuring children receive the appropriate care and protection required under statutory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities

Undertake statutory assessments in accordance with the Children Act 1989.

Assess risk and protective factors impacting children and families.

Develop and implement child-centred care and support plans.

Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including health services, education providers, and police.

Participate in strategy meetings, child protection enquiries, and court proceedings where required.

Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case records in line with statutory requirements.

Ensure safeguarding standards are upheld in accordance with local authority policies and national guidance.
Essential Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification (Degree / DipSW / CQSW).

Registration with Social Work England.

Experience working within Children’s Services or Assessment Teams.

Strong understanding of child safeguarding legislation and statutory frameworks.

Excellent assessment, communication, and case management skills.
