About the Role
An opportunity is available for an experienced Social Worker to join the Fostering Team within Children’s Services in Hampshire. This ongoing locum position offers £38.00 per hour with flexible part-time or full-time options.
You will play a key role in recruiting, assessing, and supporting foster carers, ensuring children and young people are provided with safe, stable, and nurturing home environments. This role combines assessment, supervision, and partnership working to promote positive outcomes and placement stability.
Key Responsibilities

Complete comprehensive Form F assessments for prospective foster carers.

Provide supervision, support, and annual reviews for approved foster carers.

Contribute to placement matching processes, promoting stability and permanency planning.

Prepare high-quality, evidence-based reports for fostering panels and court where required.

Ensure fostering arrangements comply with statutory regulations and safeguarding procedures.

Work collaboratively with children’s social workers, education, and health professionals.

Attend and contribute to child protection conferences and Looked After Children (LAC) reviews.

Deliver guidance and training to foster carers, supporting trauma-informed and therapeutic practice.
Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.

Previous experience within fostering or children’s services.

Strong knowledge of fostering regulations, safeguarding, and relevant legislation.

Ability to manage assessments, supervision, and partnership working effectively.
