Role Overview:
The Social Worker in the Children in Care / Permanence Team plays a crucial role in supporting looked-after children and young people to achieve stability, safety, and positive long-term outcomes. The role focuses on care planning, permanence planning, placement stability, and life-story work, working collaboratively with children, carers, families, and partner agencies.

What you will do:

  • Manage a caseload of looked-after children in line with statutory requirements

  • Develop, implement, and review care plans and permanence plans

  • Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, undertaking direct work with children

  • Contribute to care proceedings and prepare high-quality reports for court and decision-making forums

  • Prepare for and attend Looked After Child (LAC) reviews, ensuring statutory duties are met

  • Work collaboratively with foster carers, health professionals, and internal teams

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and participate in continuous professional development

Person Specification:

  • Degree in Social Work (BA / MA / DipSW)

  • Registered with Social Work England (SWE)

  • Experience within Children’s Social Care, particularly Children in Care or Permanence Planning

  • Experience in care planning and statutory reviews is highly desirable
