Key Responsibilities

As a Social Worker within the CIC Team, your focus will be on delivering high-quality, child-centred statutory social care. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a caseload of children and young people in care.

  • Fulfilling statutory duties in line with the Children Act 1989, including care planning, statutory visits, and child reviews.

  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing care plans that promote stability, permanence, and positive outcomes.

  • Building trusting relationships with children to support their emotional, developmental, and educational needs.

  • Collaborating with foster carers, residential carers, birth families, Independent Reviewing Officers (IROs), and partner agencies in health and education.

  • Preparing detailed reports for Looked After Reviews, permanence panels, and court proceedings where required.

  • Attending and contributing to reviews, professional meetings, and court hearings.

  • Identifying and addressing safeguarding concerns to protect children from harm.

  • Maintaining accurate and timely case records.

  • Operating within the framework of relevant legislation and council policies.

  • Participating in supervision, training, and continuous professional development.


Person Specification

We are seeking individuals with:

  • Professional Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.

  • Experience working with children in care or similar statutory settings.

  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • The ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.

  • Commitment to safeguarding, child-centred practice, and continuous professional development.
