What you will do

• Undertake autonomous assessments and interventions under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act.
• Coordinate and manage Mental Health Act assessments and make informed decisions regarding compulsory admissions where required.
• Plan, negotiate, and manage supervised community treatment arrangements and associated care pathways.
• Arrange and coordinate emergency resources to meet assessed needs in accordance with statutory responsibilities.
• Work collaboratively with service users, families, carers, healthcare professionals, and partner agencies.
• Provide high-quality social work support to vulnerable adults while promoting safety, dignity, and independence.
• Prepare and present comprehensive written reports, including court documents, tribunal reports, and professional assessments.
• Attend court hearings, tribunals, protection conferences, and safeguarding meetings where necessary.
• Participate in multidisciplinary working with health services, police, housing providers, and third-sector organisations.
• Ensure individuals remain at the centre of all assessments, planning, and decision-making processes.
• Contribute to service development, strategic planning, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with professional standards and statutory requirements.

Requirements

• Social Work Qualification: Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.
• Social Care Wales Registration: Current registration with Social Care Wales.
• AMHP Qualification: Approved Mental Health Professional status is essential.
• Adult Social Care Experience: Significant post-qualified experience within Adult Social Care and Mental Health Services.
• Legislative Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act, and safeguarding legislation.
• Assessment Skills: Excellent assessment, risk management, and decision-making abilities.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and court work experience.
