This locum social work role pays £43.76 per hour with full-time core hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. What you will do:
- Provide operational leadership to the MASH team, ensuring effective multi-agency safeguarding practice
- Supervise, support, and manage staff including social workers, officers, and admin staff, offering regular reflective supervision
- Oversee workload allocation, ensuring referrals are triaged and screened efficiently and proportionately
- Monitor staff performance, address practice issues, and support professional development
- Oversee and quality assure all MASH assessments, screening decisions, and information-sharing processes
- Authorise key safeguarding decisions, including thresholds for Section 17, Section 47, Early Help, and No Further Action
- Ensure compliance with statutory timescales, local safeguarding procedures, and national guidance
- Review and sign off complex cases, high-risk referrals, and those requiring strategy discussions
- Lead effective multi-agency collaboration, ensuring consistent engagement from police, health, education, and other partners
- Promote strong partnership working, ensuring information is shared lawfully, proportionately, and promptly
- Escalate serious safeguarding concerns to senior leaders where necessary
- Monitor performance data (timeliness, outcomes, thresholds) and implement service improvements
- Lead audits, dip-samples, and reflective learning to improve practice quality
- Contribute to strategic planning for the safeguarding partnership
- Produce management reports for senior leadership and safeguarding boards
- Maintain strong communication channels with partner agencies, senior management, and frontline teams
- Provide guidance to external professionals who escalate concerns or request safeguarding advice
- Ensure clear communication with families when appropriate, promoting transparency and partnership
