Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of social workers and practitioners, promoting excellence and professionalism.

• Allocate workloads, monitor performance, and ensure statutory requirements are consistently met.

• Provide reflective supervision, coaching, and support professional growth within the team.

• Oversee timely statutory assessments, care plans, and reviews for all children in care.

• Monitor placement stability, permanency planning, and access to support services for looked-after children.

• Ensure the accuracy and quality of Looked After Children documentation.

• Participate in strategy meetings, court proceedings, and care planning panels.

• Maintain rigorous safeguarding standards, identifying risks to children, families, and staff.

• Collaborate with health, education, legal services, fostering/adoption teams, and voluntary sector partners.

• Represent the team at multi-agency meetings and statutory reviews, building strong external partnerships.

• Monitor audits, team performance, and ensure compliance with statutory and council standards.

• Contribute to policy development, service planning, and improvement initiatives.

• Keep up to date with child welfare legislation, guidelines, and best practices.

• Champion equality, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practices across the team.
