Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of social workers and practitioners, promoting excellence and professionalism.

Allocate workloads, monitor performance, and ensure statutory requirements are consistently met.

Provide reflective supervision, coaching, and support professional growth within the team.

Oversee timely statutory assessments, care plans, and reviews for all children in care.

Monitor placement stability, permanency planning, and access to support services for looked-after children.

Ensure the accuracy and quality of Looked After Children documentation.

Participate in strategy meetings, court proceedings, and care planning panels.

Maintain rigorous safeguarding standards, identifying risks to children, families, and staff.

Collaborate with health, education, legal services, fostering/adoption teams, and voluntary sector partners.

Represent the team at multi-agency meetings and statutory reviews, building strong external partnerships.

Monitor audits, team performance, and ensure compliance with statutory and council standards.

Contribute to policy development, service planning, and improvement initiatives.

Keep up to date with child welfare legislation, guidelines, and best practices.
