PROJECT ENGINEERING ROLES (SUB AGENT / SECTION ENGINEER / SITE ENGINEER)
Location: Redcar
Hours: 42 hours per week – 8.4 hours per day

ROLE PURPOSES
Sub Agent
To lead and control a section of the works according to a specific discipline (Earthworks, RC Elements, Utilities, External Enabling Works). Manage a team of Section Engineers and Site Engineers. Report to Site Agent.
Section Engineer
Support senior project team in implementation of engineering strategy and framework. Assist Sub Agent in delivery of works, engineering control, QA, materials, and programme activities.
Site Engineer
Support implementation of engineering strategy and framework. Report to Section Engineer. Carry out setting out, surveying, QA support, and site delivery activities.
HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT
Sub Agent
- Produce/review Method Statements and Risk Assessments (RAMS)
- Accident/Incident investigations
- Field audits and trend analysis from audits and near misses
- Manage permits to work (Confined Space, Hot Works)
- Strong understanding of temporary works
Section Engineer
- Produce Method Statements and Risk Assessments
- Raise Temporary Works Briefs
- Complete accident reports and permits
Site Engineer
- Contribute to RAMS production
- Task briefings
- Permit to Dig
- Environmental awareness
ENGINEERING CONTROL / TECHNICAL
Sub Agent
- Identify design issues via workshops and Technical Queries
- Coach engineers in construction issue resolution
Section Engineer
- Support engineering strategy implementation
- Maintain survey equipment and setting out records
- Understand subcontractor attendances and variations
Site Engineer
- Carry out setting out and surveying using GPS, Total Station, Levels
- Set up primary survey control
- Upload setting out data to plant
- Ensure calibration of survey equipment
QUALITY (QA/QC)
Sub Agent
- Ownership of full Handover Documentation process
- Manage Materials Approval, NCRs, QA systems
- Independent inspections and audits
- Coach staff in QA procedures
- Liaise with designers on technical issues
Section Engineer
- Assist in ITPs and check sheets
- Site inspections and QA record keeping
- Raise NCRs and Technical Queries
- Maintain QA filing systems
Site Engineer
- Ensure QA systems and testing are followed
- Support ITP implementation
- Ensure specification compliance
- Assist in quality control assurance
PRODUCTIVITY / PROGRAMME
Sub Agent
- Produce fully resourced stage programmes
- Monitor KPI performance
- Translate programme data into graphical reporting
- Align section programme with 3-week lookahead
Section Engineer
- Produce weekly programmes
- Track progress against KPIs
- Communicate targets to workforce
Site Engineer
- Contribute to weekly programme updates
- Measure progress and report productivity
- Support site delivery against programme
COMMERCIAL
Sub Agent
- Maintain site diary and subcontractor communications
- Produce budgets from programmes
- Monitor weekly costs and value
- Manage subcontractors
- Draft commercial correspondence
Section Engineer
- Monitor labour, plant, and wastage
- Report variations and subcontractor performance
- Assist with cost monitoring
Site Engineer
- Carry out material reconciliations
- Identify additional works
- Support cost tracking and reporting
PERSON SPECIFICATION (ALL ROLES)
Essential Core Requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Strong work ethic and flexibility (nights/weekends required)
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Commitment to safety and Zero Harm culture
- CSCS card required
Role-Specific Requirements
Sub Agent
- SMSTS or SSSTS required
- Experience managing teams and site delivery
- Strong understanding of commercial, QA, and programme controls
- Driving licence required
Section Engineer
- Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree desirable)
- Experience in civil engineering / construction delivery
- Working towards professional membership (MICE / MIStructE desirable)
Site Engineer
- Experience in setting out and surveying (GPS, Total Station, Levels)
- Understanding of BIM and digital engineering tools desirable
- Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree desirable)
