Purpose of the Role

The Senior Social Worker will provide advanced statutory social work in a designated locality, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and families. This role involves managing complex, high-risk cases, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to high-quality, child-centred services.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of children and families with complex safeguarding and child protection needs.

• Undertake statutory assessments and engage directly with children and families to ensure their voices are heard.

• Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior social workers and students.

• Lead safeguarding investigations, risk assessments, and Section 47 enquiries.

• Collaborate with health, education, police, and voluntary sector partners to safeguard children.

• Participate in audits, case file reviews, and quality assurance initiatives to support service improvement.
