Wakefield Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Integrated Front Door Team. This role places you at the forefront of safeguarding, where timely and informed decisions directly impact the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
What you will do
- Act as the lead professional at the front door, managing and triaging incoming referrals.
- Complete initial risk assessments and apply safeguarding thresholds effectively.
- Lead and contribute to strategy discussions and Section 47 enquiries.
- Work closely with multi‑agency partners including police, health, education, and early help services.
- Provide expert professional advice and consultation to colleagues and partner agencies.
- Maintain accurate, timely records in line with statutory guidance and local authority procedures.
- Mentor and support junior social workers and newly qualified staff.
- Contribute to service development and continuous improvement in safeguarding practice.
