What you will do:
- Undertake complex child and family assessments as per the Children Act 1989 sections 17 and 47.
- Analyse risk, harm, and protective factors to inform critical decision-making.
- Complete statutory assessments within the set timescales to ensure effective intervention.
- Develop and implement child-centred plans that promote the safety, wellbeing, and permanence of children.
- Manage a caseload that encompasses high-risk and intricate cases demanding expert attention.
- Lead and contribute to safeguarding enquiries for concerns of significant harm, ensuring immediate protection.
- Participate in strategy discussions and meetings to provide expert guidance and recommendations.
- Determine appropriate thresholds such as Children in Need, Child Protection, or Looked After Children.
- Collaborate effectively with partner agencies including health, education, police, and housing to ensure shared goals for safety and wellbeing.
- Lead or participate in child protection conferences, emphasising the centrality of the child's voice in all assessments and plans.
- Fuel innovative approaches by promoting strengths-based and trauma-informed practices.
- Engage in pre-proceedings and Public Law Outline processes, preparing high-quality legal documents when required.
Requirements of the Senior Practitioner:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in social work.
- Current and valid Social Work England registration.
- Significant frontline experience in the UK within Social Services, demonstrating your capability as a qualified Social Worker.
