Our Client has a requirement for a Senior Hydraulics Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Manchester with hybrid working arrangements.

Role Purpose:

To provide specialist hydraulic engineering expertise across a range of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design, construction and commissioning support. The role will focus on hydraulics, surge analysis, thermofluids, network flows and hydraulic modelling, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop safe, efficient and innovative engineering solutions.

Job Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist hydraulic engineering support across water and wastewater projects.
  • Undertake hydraulic modelling, surge analysis, thermofluids and network flow assessments.
  • Produce and manage engineering deliverables including calculations, reports, specifications and drawings.
  • Support the design, assessment, optimisation and analysis of water and wastewater treatment and transmission systems.
  • Apply and support Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis techniques where appropriate.
  • Deliver robust modelling outputs and engineering solutions considering short, medium and long-term operational impacts.
  • Interface effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and construction operations.
  • Ensure project delivery is achieved within agreed budgets and programmes.
  • Identify and implement value engineering opportunities.
  • Communicate technical solutions confidently to stakeholders and project teams.
  • Promote and champion safety-by-design principles throughout all stages of project delivery.
  • Support construction and commissioning activities where required.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified, or equivalent, in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Membership of, or working towards membership of, a relevant professional institution.
  • Proven experience in hydraulics, surge analysis and design for water and wastewater transmission, treatment and collection/distribution systems.
  • Experience delivering projects across feasibility, detailed design, construction and commissioning phases.
  • Strong knowledge of UK regulations, standards and design codes relating to health & safety, environmental and engineering requirements.
  • Experience in thermofluids, network flows and hydraulic modelling.
  • Experience using HADES for steady-state hydraulic analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Understanding of CFD, physical modelling and related disciplines including Civil Engineering and MEICA.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • CSCS card holder.
