Location: Bushey, Hertfordshire
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-Time | Term-Time Only
Salary: £25,000 – £28,000 per annum
KPI Education is working in partnership with a high-performing and supportive secondary school in Bushey to recruit a dedicated Science Technician to join their Science Department from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a STEM graduate who is looking to develop their experience within a school setting, while playing a vital role in supporting engaging and effective practical science lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.

The Role
As a Science Technician, you will work closely with the Science Department to prepare, organise, and maintain practical resources that support outstanding teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up practical equipment, experiments, chemicals, and resources for Science lessons.
- Support teachers with demonstrations and practical activities across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Ensure laboratories are organised, safe, and fully equipped for lessons.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment, chemicals, and stock levels.
- Assist with ordering and managing scientific resources.
- Follow health and safety procedures, including COSHH regulations and safe handling of laboratory materials.
- Maintain and organise laboratory equipment and resources.
- Support practical assessments and examination requirements.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to ensure lessons run smoothly.
- Contribute to creating an engaging and safe practical learning environment for students.
Candidate Requirements
The successful Science Technician will have:
- A minimum 2:1 degree in a STEM subject (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Science, Natural Sciences, Engineering, or a related discipline).
- A strong academic background and genuine interest in Science education.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage resources effectively and work independently.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with teaching staff.
- A proactive, reliable, and professional approach.
- An interest in supporting young people and contributing to their scientific development.
- Previous laboratory, research, tutoring, or school experience is desirable but not essential.
